  • Current Job/Setting?

I work as an Adjunct Instructor for NYU (my alma mater!), a Clinical Manager for a private practice & a Clinical Specialist.  

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I discovered Speech Language Pathology while working as a behavioral therapist.

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

Changing lives!  I find immense satisfaction in knowing that my work improves my clients' quality of life.

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

I love how captivating Hawai'i is--the beauty, weather and people inspire me!

 

  • Current Job/Setting?

I work in the school setting.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I became interested in speech therapy after witnessing the amazing benefits an SLP provided for a family member.

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

I love seeing the students’ faces light up when they discover they have conquered skill that once frustrated them.

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

I am happy that I can work as a speech-language pathologist in Hawaii. Hawaii is my roots and my home.

 

  • Current Job/Setting?

I currently work as a speech-language pathologist in the school setting.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

During high school, I volunteered and shadowed different careers. I was impressed with all of the different settings and specialties that speech-language pathologists work in.

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

I love helping my students gain their superpower to communicate more effectively with others. :)

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

Hawai'i's beautiful landscape, people, cultures, food...Everything!

  • Current Job/Setting?

Pediatric speech, language & feeding therapy w/ various private and public organizations. I also started clinical instruction for CFs and grad students.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

A good friend of my parents introduced me to the field.

  • What's your favorite part   about your job?

Being able to be a part of the lives of    the people in different age groups. 

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

Being the "melting pot" of different cultures.

Small business owner/acute hospital

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I studied vocal performance in my underground and learned about vocal Pedagogy through the Communication Disorders and Sciences program at my university. 

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

How I never cease to be a student.  I will never stop learning.

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

I love the natural landscapes of Hawaii.

  • Current Job/Setting?

I am currently a Hanen Certified trainer. I also retired from the DOE & Easter Seals Early Intervention Program. I have a range of experiences across settings.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I had speech services as a child, volunteer experience in Sped & research experiences that led me to this career.

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

Working with babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and children with Autism. 

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

The Āina - the islands, forests, mountains, beaches and streams that run through. Hawai'i No Ka Oi!

  • Current Job/Setting?

I work with adult populations in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings.  I am also an educator at the University of Hawai'i and create educational content.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I became curious about the physiology of brain development and went back to graduate school. One neuroscience course, and I never looked back!

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

I love being present patients and leaning into the network of mentors and colleagues I've developed over time. 

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

Hawaii's natural beauty offers countless opportunities to reflect. I am so privileged to call the Big Island home. 

  • Current Job/Setting?

I currently work in early intervention where I love interacting with the littles and their families.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I volunteered at a Special Olympics event in high school. I met various service providers supporting the athletes.

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

Seeing the connections we help to facilitate within families and empowering parents to lead their children in their development.

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

Hawaii is such a special place- the connection between its people and the ocean and land is incredible and the surfing is amazing!

I currently work in the school setting in Central Maui (Elementary). 

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I'm interested in the intersection of culture, language and communication. I also wanted to help and advocate for others. This field is a perfect fit!

  • What's your favorite part   about your job?

I am always learning. Everyday I learn something to make me a better SLP tomorrow.

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

Hawai’i is and always will be my home I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I am grateful that I can be in the ocean or in the river anytime of any day!

I currently work in skilled-nursing. I also have experience working in early intervention, school settings, and hospital settings.

  • What got you into speech pathology?

I've always been fascinated with linguistics, vocal performance & science. CSD is at the intersection of them all.

  • What's your favorite part about your job?

I love helping a patient meet their goals. It's satisfying to see them realize their hard work paid off.

  • What's your favorite thing about Hawaii?

I'm constantly in awe of the natural landscape of Hawai'i. I also love the diversity of languages and cuisines!
